A 3000 km race on nothing but sunlight.

We're a team of university students building a car to drive 3,000 km across the Australian outback. Our only fuel is sunlight. This is our test, our obsession, and our shot at putting Hungarian engineering on the map.

A Neumann spark. A solar journey. A global vision.

We believe that engineering, creativity, and teamwork can truly drive change. Our mission goes beyond building a solar-powered vehicle — we are creating a technological and educational platform that inspires the next generation of engineers, fosters industrial innovation, and proudly represents Hungary on the global stage.

Project Goals and Focus Areas

In 2025, the team from Neumann University will join one of the world’s most demanding engineering challenges: the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, a 3,000 km journey across Australia from Darwin to Adelaide in a solar-powered vehicle. But this is more than just a race — it’s a two-year innovation, education, and technology program, where Hungarian engineering excellence proudly takes its place on the international stage.

Our technical developments

Our engineering efforts are focused on maximizing energy efficiency, structural performance, and system reliability under real-world racing conditions. With the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge as our benchmark, we strive to achieve the optimal balance between lightweight design, aerodynamic efficiency, and precise energy management through simulation-driven development and continuous iteration.

Prototype engineering
Multidisciplinary team
Sustainable systems
High-Performance Solar Array
The car’s solar array uses 386 ultra-light mono-crystalline cells in compact modules to deliver up to 1,552 Wp of aerodynamic solar power.
High-Density Li-Ion Battery Pack
A custom 280-cell lithium-ion battery pack provides safe, efficient energy storage optimized for solar racing performance.
Strategy Optimization
Energy use and speed are optimized using a simulation-based model that considers weather data, terrain shading, and vehicle telemetry.
Digital Twin of the Solar Car
A highly detailed 3D digital twin of the car supports precise simulations, aerodynamic analysis, and virtual validation during development.
Unique Suspension
The car uses a double wishbone suspension and carbon-fiber components designed with advanced 3D modeling for minimal resistance and volume.
Mitsuba M2096D3 High-Efficiency In-Wheel Motor
A 2.0kW in-wheel motor with over 97% efficiency and low weight ensures smooth and optimized solar vehicle performance.
Bridgestone ENLITEN® Lightweight Tire Technology
Specially designed ultra-light tires reduce rolling resistance and improve energy efficiency under high-temperature, long-distance racing conditions.
